Counselling

Counselling allows people to discuss their problems and any difficult feelings in a safe and confidential environment. The term counselling can mean different things to different people, but in general it is a supportive process people seek when they want to make changes in their lives and explore their thoughts and feelings in more depth.

My role as your counsellor is not to tell you what to do – instead I encourage you to talk about what’s affecting you in order to uncover the actual causes and explore your way of thinking. Together we can create a plan of action to help you reconcile your issues or find better ways of coping with them.

Each counselling session is tailored to you as an individual. I offer a range of counselling session types to best suit you and your lifestyle.

Face-to-face

This is when you come to see me at my practice on a regular basis, either short-term or long-term. Face-to-face sessions are the most common type of counselling because they provide an opportunity to discuss and explore your emotions in person. Sessions are usually weekly and they take place at my practice.

On the phone

Telephone counselling offers a helpful alternative to face-to-face sessions. This type of counselling can be particularly useful if you are too busy to attend face-to-face sessions, and it can take place in the comfort of your own home. Waiting times for telephone counselling tend to be much shorter in general.

Online

Another alternative is online counselling by email where you email me your thoughts and I respond. This form of counselling allows you to think through what you wish to discuss and by doing so many people find it cathartic. Online counselling by email is one of the most convenient ways to get help at your own pace.

My way of working

My therapeutic work aims to help you explore your thinking and your emotions in order to see things more clearly and resolve issues in your past, your present and your future. It can help you make positive changes to your life, feel stronger in yourself and be confident to pursue your aspirations.

I aim to provide you with a safe and supportive environment to help you explore any issues that affect you. I have long experience in working with people with a complex past or a troubling present. But, most importantly, I am committed to working with you to help you find the resolution that you seek.
