About me

carla_martinMy name is Carla and I am an experienced Counsellor for adults. I specialise in person-centred counselling and work with people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP) and follow their code of ethics.

My therapeutic approach aims to help people resolve long-standing issues, develop coping mechanisms and live life in full.

My practice provides a safe, non-judgemental and supportive space to help my clients feel comfortable to explore their emotions and experiences. I offer a holistic and person-centred therapeutic approach.

Holistic means that I believe that all aspects of being human are connected and therefore cannot be treated separately, so I work paying close attention to both the physical and psychological processes that my clients are going through and how they link together.

And having a person-centred approach means that I bring myself into the therapeutic relationship with you as another human being, sharing my responses, thoughts and feelings with you. I use our relationship as a way of raising your awareness of how you experience and relate with the world around you.

I have over 20 years experience of working with vulnerable people through public sector organisations and charities on issues such as homelessness, substance misuse and mental health issues. Although I don’t work with children and adolescents in my practice, my long experience of working with families has broadened my understanding of families and parental issues.
